MULLINGS

hello. my name is Billy Wright-Mullings and thank you for viewing my works. I am a New Jersey born and New York based photographer, live sound engineer, producer, DJ, and recording artist. I have studied at the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music at NYU and as I write this, I am beginning my last year in my higher education journey and could not be more grateful for the people, the moments, and the grace I have experienced. I guess my work is documentation. from perceived isolation and the courage to break it, to the hips of my friends in motion with the groove, I try my best to live in the here and the now. our memory will fail us eventually, so why not try to save what we can? 

 

my music, under the rap moniker Jackie Pearl, is my contribution to the afrofuturist diaspora as I attempt to honor the role models who came before me, and who I hold very lovingly. hip-hop will never die, it is just a phrase people throw around every 10 or so years when the music begins to inevitably change. I owe my life to the art form, and I pray I live long enough to see many of its cycles.
